We recently discovered that many things are referred to as "grand" in Michigan and that definitely goes for the Take Back the Night event at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan as well. It was truly an amazing event with so much impact, all put together by one of the coolest group of students we've had the pleasure of meeting. The students involved with Eyes Wide Open at Grand Valley are doing remarkable things for the campus community. It was an honor to work with the students, walk with them in the march and especially to listen to two young survivors speak out for the first time. The standing ovation they recieved from the audience was a sign of the support that could be felt throughout the room. We were deeply moved and inspired by the young ladies who shared their personal stories tonight. You are beautiful, courageous, strong and powerful women. We are so proud of you! Thank you so much for sharing a part of yourself with us.
